Carrier Shipping Overview

An overview of how carrier charges are calculated, including base fees, surcharges, and service level breakdowns.

Carrier charges are predominantly based on Speed (Economy, Ground, Express), Weight (Actual vs. Dimensional), and the Distance (Zones) a package travels. Other factors include order detail accuracy, remote zip codes, and international addresses.

The following tables summarize the base Carrier Fees:

  • Residential Surcharge

  • Fuel Surcharge

  • Delivery Area Surcharge (EDAS/DAS)

Residential Surcharge

Carriers impose a residential surcharge for delivering to home addresses for specific service levels. This fee is captured in the Atomix Ground and Express service levels as follows:

Service Level

Amount

Economy

$---

Ground

$2.50

Expedited

$3.50

International

$3.50 + (Carrier adjustments)

Fuel Surcharge

Fuel surcharges fluctuate based on market prices and directly impact shipping costs. Carriers adjust this fee periodically. The surcharge is calculated as a percentage of the base rate.
