What is FBA prep at Atomix? Atomix picks, packs, labels and stages inventory from your Atomix stock for shipment into Amazon FBA fulfillment centers. Every FBA shipment runs as a B2B order plus a Special Project, because it falls outside the normal daily pick/pack process.
Who does what? You own the Amazon side: creating the shipment in Seller Central, generating FBA box and pallet labels, and booking the carrier. Atomix owns the warehouse side: packing to your packing list, applying labels, palletizing freight, sharing dims and weights, and releasing the shipment at pickup.
Getting started
What do I need to provide?
A B2B order in the Atomix app for each FBA shipment (one order per shipment and destination fulfillment center)
A Special Project request with Amazon FBA selected and the B2B order number included
Your Amazon packing list showing units per carton attached to your project submission
FBA box labels and carrier labels for small parcel
pallet labels and a booked pickup for freight will be referenced below
Any prep instructions, such as FNSKU labels covering existing barcodes
Can I send several shipments at once? Yes. Use the bulk upload template in the app to create multiple FBA orders in one pass. Shipments going to different fulfillment centers each need their own order in app and labels.
What if I don't know my carton quantities or sizes? Atomix can work it out for you. Create the B2B order on hold with total units per SKU and submit the Special Project request. We'll pack the shipment and send back a box-by-box breakdown: units per carton, dimensions and weight for each box, plus pallet count and dimensions for freight. Use that breakdown to build the shipment in Seller Central, then send us the labels. We apply them and release the shipment once they arrive. Measuring and packing time is billed as Special Project labor.
Creating an FBA shipment
Who creates the shipment in Seller Central? You do. Atomix works from the labels and packing list you send.
What are the steps?
Create the shipment in Seller Central and download the packing list.
Create a B2B order in the Atomix app and place it on indefinite hold.
Submit a Special Project request, select Amazon FBA, and include the B2B order number.
Your Account Manager reviews the request and sends a quote. Approve it to start the clock.
Atomix picks and packs to your packing list.
For freight, we share the pallet count, dimensions and weights. You create the pallet labels and book the pickup.
We apply all box and pallet labels and release the shipment to the carrier.
Can I attach labels when I create the order? Yes, for small parcel shipments, attach FBA box labels and carrier labels to the B2B order up front ahead of time if you want.
Prep and labeling
What labels does Atomix need? FBA box labels for every carton, plus a carrier label per carton for small parcel or pallet labels for freight. Labels must come from Amazon; Atomix can't create them.
*If you want Atomix to ship to Amazon using our ship labels - notate this on your project submission
Can you apply FNSKU labels or cover existing barcodes? Yes. Send the FNSKU label file and tell us which barcode to cover. Unit-level labeling is billed as Special Project labor.
How should cartons be packed? We pack each carton exactly to your Amazon packing list. Set units per carton in Seller Central to match how your product is cased; a mismatch means opening master cases and repacking, which adds labor hours.
What are the carton limits? Amazon's standard limits are 50 lb per carton and 25 in on any side (approximate; confirm current rules in Seller Central). If your cartons will exceed this, flag it before creating the shipment.
Shipping
| Small parcel (SPD) | Freight (LTL) |
Best for | A few cartons | Larger shipments, palletized |
Labels you send | FBA box label + carrier label per carton | FBA box labels up front; pallet labels after we share pallet count and dims |
Who books pickup | You provide prepaid labels; Atomix schedules the carrier pickup | You book the freight pickup (e.g. Amazon Freight) and delivery appointment |
What Atomix sends you | Carton count, dims and weights | Pallet count, dims and weights in a standard pallet breakdown |
Timelines
How long does FBA prep take? 2-5 business days from a completely submitted approved request. Larger volumes can take longer, and your Account Manager will tell you up front.
What counts as completely submitted? Atomix has all the data and inventory needed (order, packing list, labels, prep instructions), and you've approved the quote. The clock doesn't start until both are true.
Can I book a pickup before prep is done? Book pickups for after the completion date.
Are there peak-season limits? Yes. FBA orders may be restricted during peak blackout dates. Check with your Account Manager before planning Q4 replenishment.
Billing
How is FBA prep billed? As a Special Project, at the standard rates below.
Item | Rate |
Minimum charge | $60, regardless of time |
Labor | $60 per person per hour |
Supplies (boxes, labels, pallets, packaging) | Billed to client |
Is the quote the final price? No. Quotes are estimates; you're billed for the actual time the work takes.
Who pays for shipping? You do, through the labels you provide or the freight you book with Amazon.
What adds cost? Repacking master cases to match Amazon's units per carton, covering or applying unit labels, and relabeling when labels arrive incorrect.
